A16z leads $25M funding for Miden blockchain project
A16z Crypto led a $25 million investment round in Miden, a blockchain project from Polygon Labs. The funding round included participation from various investors and aims to support Miden's development, with a mainnet launch expected in Q4 2025. Miden utilizes zero-knowledge proof technology and a hybrid consensus model to enhance scalability by executing transactions on user devices, addressing traditional blockchain bottlenecks. It targets institutions needing confidentiality, allowing both public and private transactions. Miden plans to airdrop 10% of its native tokens to Polygon token holders. Co-founder Bobbin Threadbare emphasized that existing blockchains lack the necessary privacy and scalability for mass adoption, positioning Miden as a potential catalyst for institutional use.
