ADI Chain, Shipfinex partner to tokenize $500M vessel pipeline

Summary

Shipfinex, a Dubai-based maritime asset tokenization platform, is partnering with ADI Chain to tokenize a pipeline of about 35 vessels valued at roughly $500 million. The vessels will be placed in separate special-purpose vehicles, and the tokens may represent vessel-backed credit, charter-linked income, or other economic interests in individual ships. ADI Chain will handle distribution and settlement, with issuance and payments expected to use UAE dirham-, US dollar-, and other stablecoin denominations. The project is still in pilot and operational-readiness stages, and no Maritime Asset Tokens have been issued yet. The regulated issuance structure is still being finalized. The initiative is small relative to the global shipping market, which was valued at about $2.1 trillion at the start of 2026. It comes amid rapid growth in tokenized real-world assets, which reached about $38.1 billion by Aug. 9, with major holdings in U.S. Treasurys and commodities.
