Altcoin spot volume nears 4x Bitcoin’s as ETF inflows shrink across five sessions
Altcoin spot volume has risen to nearly four times Bitcoin’s, its highest ratio since September 2025, as retail clients on Wintermute’s OTC desk sold BTC to rotate into altcoins. More than 72% of tracked altcoins outperformed Bitcoin, while Binance-listed altcoins broadly traded above their 200-day averages. US spot Bitcoin ETFs still drew about $2.4 billion over five sessions, but daily inflows fell sharply. ETF buyers absorbed coins as profit-taking and perpetual-futures selling increased. Analysts warn that similar surges in altcoin breadth have often preceded flat or negative weeks, and that the rotation depends on continued Bitcoin demand. Wintermute identifies $82,500 as a key support zone; a loss of that level alongside fading ETF inflows could pressure riskier, less-liquid altcoins.
