Anchorage Digital brings off-exchange settlement to Binance

Summary

Anchorage Digital has connected its off-exchange settlement platform to Binance, letting institutional clients trade on Binance while keeping crypto and cash in qualified custody at Anchorage instead of pre-funding exchange accounts. Institutions can use assets or USD deposits held with Anchorage as collateral to satisfy Binance margin requirements without transferring them to the exchange. The setup separates custody from execution, leaving assets with an independent custodian until settlement. The service is starting with select institutional clients and is the first off-exchange settlement use of Anchorage’s Atlas platform, which supports trading, settlement, lending, and collateral management. The model is aimed at reducing exchange counterparty risk and making crypto trading more like traditional finance custody-and-execution workflows. Financial terms were not disclosed. Similar off-exchange custody models have been adopted by BitMEX with Zodia Custody, Bitget with Fireblocks Off Exchange, and KuCoin Institutional with Ceffu’s MirrorX.
