Android Is About to Get a Lot Smarter With Google AI Boosts—Here's How
Google unveiled Gemini Intelligence, an AI feature for Android designed to automate tasks across apps, personalize device interfaces, and reduce manual input. Launching first on Samsung Galaxy S26 and Pixel 10 phones this summer, then expanding to other devices, Gemini will handle multi-step actions—such as building shopping carts or managing class logistics—based on user commands. The update also introduces a Material 3 Expressive interface for decreased distractions. Users retain control, as Gemini requires explicit commands and confirmations for tasks. Additional features include AI-powered Chrome browsing, enhanced autofill, the Rambler multilingual voice-cleanup tool, and natural language-generated widgets. Google also announced Googlebook, its first laptop built for Gemini Intelligence, marking a shift from operating to intelligence systems. This move highlights Google's strong position in AI integration, contrasting with rivals facing delays and setbacks in delivering AI capabilities.
