Binance co-founder Changpeng Zhao to advise Kyrgyzstan on blockchain tech
Changpeng “CZ” Zhao, former CEO of Binance, will advise the Kyrgyz Republic on blockchain and cryptocurrency regulation after signing a memorandum of understanding with the National Investment Agency (NIA). This collaboration aims to enhance technological infrastructure, implement innovative solutions, and develop specialists in blockchain technologies and cybersecurity. President Sadyr Zhaparov emphasized the importance of this initiative for economic growth and virtual asset security. Kyrgyzstan, rich in renewable energy resources, is seen as favorable for crypto mining, with only 10% of its hydropower potential currently utilized. CZ has also engaged with officials in Malaysia, the UAE, and Bhutan regarding crypto matters. His recent activities follow a four-month prison sentence in the US for anti-money laundering violations. CZ has invested in various tech sectors and donated 1,000 BNB for earthquake relief efforts in Thailand and Myanmar.
