Bitcoin Buying Sprees Accelerate as Metaplanet, Semler Stack More BTC
Semler Scientific purchased 187 Bitcoin for $20 million, increasing its total holdings to 4,636 BTC valued over $500 million. Metaplanet acquired 2,205 BTC for nearly $239 million, raising its total to 15,555 BTC worth approximately $1.7 billion. Metaplanet reported a BTC Yield of 416.6% year-to-date, while Semler achieved a yield of 29%. Both companies utilized creative financing strategies similar to those of Strategy, which paused its purchases after three months of accumulation. Publicly traded firms now hold over 852,000 BTC collectively. Metaplanet's shares fell 1.8% but are up 381% year-to-date; Semler's shares dropped 4.4% and are down over 29% year-to-date. Bitcoin is trading at $108,061, about 3.4% below its all-time high of $111,814.
