Cardano moves closer to 15x scaling breakthrough as developers merge key Leios code
Summary
Cardano developers merged Praos2 and key Leios networking components into the main development branch, advancing a planned scaling upgrade. The Dijkstra hard fork is expected to initially raise capacity three to five times, with later changes targeting 10 to 15 times current levels. Full deployment remains uncertain: Dijkstra has not yet been tested on the public testnet, and further increases require performance testing and multiple governance approvals. The rollout also depends on operators registering BLS keys and meeting Leios’ stake-based certification threshold. IOG estimates current throughput at about 4.5 kilobytes per second, with initial Leios capacity of 13.5–22.5 kilobytes and later targets of 45–67.5 kilobytes per second.
