Cardano’s scaling overhaul hit by a user confidence gap widened by ADA’s slump and wallet exploit

Summary

Cardano is pushing two major protocol upgrades while its ecosystem weakens. Input Output launched the Musashi Dojo public testnet for Ouroboros Leios, a scaling redesign meant to raise consensus-layer throughput by an estimated 5x to 20x without replacing Cardano’s existing proof-of-stake system. Cardano is also advancing the Van Rossem hard fork, or Protocol Version 11, through governance, with most block producers already on node version 11 but exchange readiness still incomplete. These engineering gains come as ADA trades near $0.14, down more than 55% this year and at its lowest level since 2020. Traders are cautiously positioned for a rebound, but conviction looks weak. The network also suffered a wallet exploit at SecondFi, which exposed private keys and led to losses of about 16 million ADA across 374 addresses, though 129 million ADA was rescued. The upgrades may matter more for sentiment only if they lead to higher usage, stronger security, and renewed demand for ADA.
