Cboe’s New Cash-Settled Bitcoin ETF Options: Could This Spark A Move Beyond $100,000?
Cboe will launch the first cash-settled index options linked to Bitcoin's spot price on December 2, based on the Cboe Bitcoin ETF Index. This follows Nasdaq's listing of spot Bitcoin ETF options, allowing US investors to hedge or speculate on BTC price movements. Cash-settled options are expected to reduce Bitcoin's volatility, enhance market liquidity, and influence retail trading behavior, particularly in bullish conditions. The introduction may push Bitcoin's price over $100,000, supported by recent trading activity. Cboe will also offer Mini Bitcoin ETF Index options and cash-settled FLEX options for customization. Cboe Digital Exchange currently lists cash-settled Bitcoin and Ether margin futures, with plans to transition these to the Cboe Futures Exchange by 2025, pending regulatory approval. Cboe's BZX Equities Exchange leads the US market for spot crypto ETFs. Bitcoin is trading at $99,240.
