Chainalysis, South Korean police link up to fight crypto crime

Summary

Chainalysis signed a memorandum of understanding with South Korea’s National Police Agency to strengthen local law enforcement’s ability to investigate crypto crimes. The partnership focuses heavily on North Korea-linked attacks, which remain a major security concern, but it is also meant to build broader institutional capability against all crypto-related threats. The agreement gives KNPA access to tailored training, certification programs, and hands-on investigative support. Chainalysis said effective cases require global visibility into illicit fund flows. The deal follows rising losses tied to North Korean hackers and comes shortly after South Korea created a multi-agency task force to combat crypto-based money laundering.
