Chainlink, Cardano, other blockchain groups push SEC for clearer crypto rules

Summary

Chainlink Labs, the Cardano Foundation and four other blockchain organizations urged the SEC to explicitly classify digital commodities as non-securities in its proposed Regulation Crypto Assets framework. They said relying on interpretive guidance leaves developers and market participants uncertain about which securities rules apply. Their joint letter also called for clarity on securities laws for secondary-market transactions and on staking and other decentralized-network activities. The SEC’s proposal, introduced in August, received about 140 public comments during a 60-day consultation, which closed Tuesday.
