Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) Group to launch XRP futures
The Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) Group will launch XRP futures contracts on May 19, offering micro-sized contracts of 2,500 XRP and standard contracts of 50,000 XRP, all cash-settled. This follows a previous announcement in January 2025, which was later retracted. The launch reflects increasing institutional acceptance of cryptocurrencies, with more crypto-focused financial products emerging in the US. On March 17, Solana (SOL) futures were introduced at CME, featuring standard and micro contract sizes. Canary Capital applied for a staked Tron (TRX) ETF in April 2025, aiming to hold spot TRX while staking part for yield. Additionally, Crypto.com and Trump Media and Technology Group plan to launch an ETF tracking US crypto projects under the Truth.Fi banner in 2025. Over 70 crypto ETF applications are pending review by the SEC.
