Coinbase lets users transfer stock portfolios as exchange expands beyond crypto
Coinbase is expanding beyond crypto by letting US users transfer existing stock and ETF portfolios from other brokerages onto Coinbase Advanced through ACATS, without selling holdings. The platform now offers expanded stock and ETF trading, zero-commission trades, TradingView charts, fractional shares, and up to 3.5% rewards on eligible USDC balances. Coinbase is also adding stock and crypto options, thematic equity index perpetual futures, pre-IPO perpetuals, and broader prediction markets, with some features launching later. The move makes Coinbase a more direct competitor to brokerages and fintech apps like Robinhood by putting stocks, ETFs, and crypto in one account. The expansion comes as Coinbase seeks more stable revenue beyond crypto trading, which remains highly tied to market cycles and has led to recent earnings volatility.
