Coinbase tokenized stocks go live on Base with Chainlink price feeds

Summary

Coinbase launched tokenized US stocks on Base, paired with Chainlink Data Feeds to provide continuous pricing for DeFi use. The initial assets include Nvidia, Apple, Meta, and Alphabet. The price feeds are designed to let protocols use the tokens in lending markets, DEXs, and structured products, including as collateral. The stocks are issued as B20 tokens on Base and are available only to non-US users in eligible jurisdictions. Each token represents a claim on an underlying share held with regulated broker-custodian Alpaca in an Abu Dhabi Global Market-supervised structure. They can be held in self-custody and traded 24/7. Base says the tokens can plug into existing DeFi apps, such as using tokenized Nvidia as loan collateral on Aave or tokenized Apple on decentralized exchanges. More tokenized stocks are expected soon. The broader tokenized equities market has grown to about $2.48 billion, with $27.28 billion in monthly transfer volume and over 2.1 million holders.
