Crypto-backed PAC scales back ad spending in Massachusetts primary
Summary
Fairshake’s affiliate Protect Progress PAC spent just over $189,000 on media supporting Rep. Jake Auchincloss in Massachusetts’ 4th District primary. Democratic challenger Jason Poulos said some of that money funded “AI-generated slop mailers” and urged Auchincloss to publicly reject the PAC’s involvement. Poulos also pointed to $77,500 Auchincloss has taken from crypto-industry sources since 2020 and his vote for the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, a crypto market-structure bill still pending in the Senate. The spending is part of Fairshake’s broader push to shape the 2026 elections, after its network spent about $3.6 million in recent House and Senate races and reported $122 million cash on hand for the midterms.
