Crypto Billionaire Bites Off Part Of Kidnapper’s Finger
Tim Heath, an Australian crypto billionaire, survived a kidnapping attempt in Estonia in July 2022 by biting off part of an attacker’s finger. The assailants, posing as painters, planned to force Heath into a van but he escaped to his apartment after a brief struggle, during which he lost a tooth. The attackers fled, leaving behind a van and part of the finger found nearby. Heath's kidnappers had stalked him using a GPS tracker and planned to extract his crypto holdings. Two men, Allahverdi Allahverdiyev and Ilgar Mamedov, are on trial, while others involved remain unidentified. Allahverdiyev claimed he was promised €100,000 for the kidnapping but later backed out. Following the incident, Heath received a Telegram message demanding 30 Bitcoin, indicating a potential ongoing threat. He has spent over $3.1 million on security and relocated, seeking reimbursement from the accused.
