Crypto skeptic to release SBF, Mashinsky interviews in documentary
Ben McKenzie will make his directorial debut with the documentary "Everyone Is Lying To You For Money," focusing on cryptocurrency. The film, set to premiere at SXSW London in June, features footage of former FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried and former Celsius CEO Alex Mashinsky before their companies collapsed. McKenzie aims to address the persistence of false narratives surrounding crypto. He has been vocal about cryptocurrency issues since 2021 and testified at a US Senate hearing after FTX's collapse in November 2022. The documentary will also examine El Salvador President Nayib Bukele's ties to crypto, particularly his move to recognize Bitcoin as legal tender in 2021. Bankman-Fried is currently serving a 25-year prison sentence for felony charges related to FTX's downfall, while Mashinsky faces sentencing for his guilty plea on two felony charges, with prosecutors recommending a 20-year sentence.
