Crypto wallet maker Keystone is destroying nearly 19,000 devices after a major security breach
Keystone said a website breach exposed 25,964 customer records and may have affected 12,873 unpaid checkout records. The stolen production key can make counterfeit wallets pass online authenticity checks and cannot be changed, so the company will destroy 18,835 unsold devices and suspend shipments while replacing the key. Recovery phrases, private keys and wallet credentials were not exposed. Keystone said devices delivered before Oct. 20 remain safe if they pass authentication, and users do not need to move funds solely because of the breach. The company also acknowledged a failure to delete old customer records on schedule. A separate Foundation breach involved phishing attempts and access to some customer contact data, with no evidence of compromised devices or keys.
