Crypto.com secures EU license to launch crypto financial derivatives
Crypto.com has obtained a Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID) license to offer cryptocurrency financial derivatives in the European Economic Area. This follows the company's earlier approval for a Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) license in January. The license enables Crypto.com to enhance its services in Europe, as stated by CEO Kris Marszalek. The company also received regulatory approval for its acquisition of Cyprus-based A.N. Allnew Investments. Other crypto firms, such as Kraken and Coinbase, are also expanding into regulated derivatives trading, with Kraken launching derivatives under MiFID II and Coinbase acquiring the Deribit platform. Gemini has received approval to expand its derivatives trading in Europe, while Synthetix plans to re-acquire the crypto options platform Derive. Crypto.com has made several acquisitions, including Fintek Securities and Watchdog Capital.
