Curve Finance Mulls Removing TrueUSD as Collateral for Stablecoin Curve USD
Curve Finance is considering a proposal to remove TrueUSD (TUSD) as collateral for its stablecoin, Curve USD (crvUSD). The proposal suggests reducing TUSD's backing limit to zero and decreasing the minting capacity of crvUSD with PayPal's stablecoin, PYUSD, from $15 million to $5 million. This aims to mitigate overexposure to TUSD, which has faced regulatory scrutiny and legal challenges, including allegations from the SEC regarding its backing and transparency. Currently, users can mint crvUSD using TUSD through a PegKeeper liquidity pool, but the proposal seeks to diversify collateral assets to enhance stability. TrueCoin, the original issuer of TUSD, was accused of unregistered securities sales and misrepresentation of TUSD's backing. A settlement has been proposed, involving fines and profit returns.
