Deutsche Bank To Launch Crypto Custody Service In 2026
Deutsche Bank plans to launch a cryptocurrency custody service in 2026, allowing clients to store assets like Bitcoin. The service will be developed in collaboration with Austria-based Bitpanda and Swiss technology provider Taurus. This initiative follows the bank's previous ambitions in the crypto market since 2020. Deutsche Bank has shown increasing interest in cryptocurrencies, with discussions about entering the stablecoin market and potentially issuing its own stablecoin. The bank is also exploring a tokenized deposit solution for payments and developing a layer-2 blockchain on Ethereum using ZKsync technology. In 2023, Deutsche Bank aimed to introduce crypto custody options after applying for a digital asset custody license in Germany. The announcement coincides with Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe's plans to offer crypto trading services to its customers.
