Dogecoin Down Bad as Bitcoin Gives Up Latest Gains
Dogecoin (DOGE) dropped about 8% in the past 24 hours, making it the worst-performing top 100 cryptocurrency as Bitcoin slipped to nearly $71,000 after peaking near $74,000. DOGE is now trading around $0.094 and has turned negative for the week. Bitwise Research’s Danny Nelson noted that Dogecoin relies on attention for growth and that the recent rally lacked a necessary attention catalyst for lasting gains. DOGE remains 87% below its 2021 all-time high of $0.73. The broader meme coin category is also down, posting a 0.5% daily and 8.3% weekly decline, with coins like Pepe, Bonk, and Fartcoin all suffering losses. Fartcoin has dropped roughly 4.9% in 24 hours and now sits 93% below its January 2025 peak. The Solana-based TRUMP token is down about 6.5% daily and nearly 96% from its all-time high.
