ElevenLabs, Stability AI Drop New AI Music Models—Can They Catch Suno?
ElevenLabs and Stability AI released major AI music updates: ElevenLabs launched Music v2, a model focused on coherent track generation that can seamlessly shift genres and supports improved multilingual capabilities and inpainting. Users can build songs in sections with continuity, and pricing was reduced for API and commercial platforms. ElevenLabs now competes directly with Suno, aiming to expand its presence in the consumer market. Stability AI released Stable Audio 3.0, offering four open-weight models, including on-device options and API access for enterprise users. The new architecture, SAME, maintains melodic coherence in longer tracks, supports LoRA fine-tuning for style adaptation, and allows precise inpainting and segment extension. Licensing is addressed with partnerships from Universal and Warner; most models are freely available for developers. Both companies stress licensed training data to avoid industry copyright disputes, directly targeting Suno's dominant position in AI music.
