Ethereum Foundation Restructures R&D Division, Plans 'Rethink' on Design and Development
The Ethereum Foundation is restructuring its Protocol Research & Development teams to enhance the development of the Ethereum ecosystem. This consolidation will create a new "Protocol" division focused on three goals: scaling the main blockchain (Layer 1), scaling data storage (blobs), and improving user experience. Leadership for each initiative has been assigned to specific team members. Some current members will not continue with the foundation, and ecosystem projects are encouraged to recruit departing talent. Dankrad Feist will serve as a strategic advisor for all initiatives. The restructuring aims to address challenges in protocol design and implementation, bridging gaps between research and practical application. Previous upgrades faced delays due to testnet failures, prompting this proactive approach to meet evolving demands.
