Ethereum L2 Eclipse Appoints New CEO Amid Sexual Misconduct Allegations
Neel Somani, Founder of Ethereum Layer-2 Blockchain Eclipse, has been replaced as CEO due to sexual misconduct allegations. Vijay Chetty, the company’s CGO, is the new CEO. Chetty has a decade-long experience in the crypto industry. Eclipse Labs did not disclose the reason for Somani's departure but previously stated they take the allegations seriously. Hack VC, a Web3 Venture Capital firm, co-led Eclipse’s $50 million Series A Funding and acknowledged the serious allegations, working to "correct the situation." In April, a member of the crypto community publicly called out Somani for alleged inappropriate behavior against women, leading to more women coming forward with similar experiences. Despite denying all allegations, the conversation around sexual harassment in the industry has been sparked.
