Ethereum to simplify crosschain transactions with new token standards
Ethereum developers are introducing two new token standards, ERC-7930 and ERC-7828, to enhance blockchain interoperability. Current inconsistencies in how wallets, DApps, and smart contracts interpret information lead to a fragmented user experience. ERC-7930 provides a compact, binary format for interoperable addresses, optimized for machine use across blockchains. ERC-7828 adds a human-readable layer, allowing formats like address@chain for clarity. This dual approach aims to streamline interactions within Ethereum's inter-blockchain ecosystem. The new system enables users to specify the target blockchain for transactions, reducing the risk of sending assets to the wrong chain and simplifying wallet operations. Users will no longer need to switch networks manually, enhancing overall usability. Feedback is sought from the ETH-Magicians forum as developers aim to finalize these standards soon.
