Former Blockchain Exec Joins SEC As Director Of Trading And Markets
The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has made new hires, including Jamie Selway as director of trading and markets and Brian Daly to head the investment management division. Selway previously worked at Blockchain.com, while Daly has a background in crypto law. These appointments coincide with Congressional discussions on the CLARITY Act, which aims to clarify SEC and Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) authority over digital assets. The SEC has also withdrawn certain proposed rules related to crypto that were issued between March 2022 and November 2023. The agency remains understaffed, with one vacant seat and ongoing vacancies at the CFTC following recent departures. Lawmakers are considering a nomination for Brian Quintenz to chair the CFTC, but no additional nominations have been made.
