From Smuggling Gold Out of Africa to Bridging Bitcoin and Cardano
Edan Yago smuggled gold out of South Africa as a child, influenced by a family history of oppression. His background and education in neuroscience and data science led him to Bitcoin, which he views as a means of financial sovereignty. Yago founded Sovyrn, a decentralized bitcoin lending and trading platform, and is developing BitcoinOS to enhance Bitcoin's scalability and privacy without altering its core. In collaboration with Emurgo, he aims to integrate Cardano as a smart contract layer for Bitcoin. Yago advocates for a revival of initial coin offerings through decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs) to preserve user privacy. He acknowledges the challenges within the crypto ecosystem but sees potential in its ability to empower individuals financially.
