Hong Kong Bitcoin and Ether ETFs Have Soft Debut

Summary

Hong Kong's bitcoin and ether ETFs underperformed on their trading debut, with the six listed crypto ETFs generating $11 million in volume, significantly below the expected $100 million. Bitcoin ETFs accounted for $8.5 million and ether ETFs for $2.5 million of this volume. Unlike in the U.S., where ether is potentially considered a security, Hong Kong regulators have no such concerns, allowing ether ETFs to be listed. Ether ETFs are also listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange. On the first day of trading in the U.S., total volume reached $655 million, while bitcoin's value fell by over 1%, trading near $62,100.
