Hong Kong officials double down on end-2026 deadline for crypto licensing bill
Summary
Hong Kong plans to submit an amendment bill by the end of 2026 to create licensing regimes for digital asset trading, custody, advisory and management services. Financial Secretary Christopher Hui said the expanded framework responds to developments in financial technology. The HKMA has already begun processing stablecoin issuer applications and granted its first licenses in April to Anchorpoint Financial and HSBC.
