Japanese Crypto Exchange DMM Bitcoin Suffers $305M Hack
Summary
Japanese cryptocurrency exchange DMM Bitcoin reported a loss of 48 billion yen ($305 million) of bitcoin (BTC) due to a hack. The exchange confirmed that 4,502.9 BTC had "leaked" and measures have been implemented to prevent further unauthorized outflows. DMM Bitcoin has assured that it will procure the equivalent amount of BTC lost with the support of group companies and guarantee the full amount. The platform has temporarily restricted all spot buys and warned that Japanese yen withdrawals may be delayed. This incident is the second largest loss in the region, following Coincheck's 58 billion yen hack in 2018.
