Kazakhstan’s central bank explores stablecoin and tokenization projects with Tether
Summary
Kazakhstan’s central bank, Tether and the Alatau City Authority signed an agreement to explore a tenge-pegged stablecoin and tokenizing real-world assets. The partnership will study potential uses, identify assets suitable for tokenization and prepare proposals for pilots in Alatau, which has a special legal regime for financial technology. Tether’s Hadron platform is among the technologies under consideration. The agreement is exploratory and does not commit the parties to issuing a stablecoin. They also plan workshops for officials on stablecoin reserves, issuance and asset tokenization.
