Kidnappers Release Crypto Trader Because Of Low Balance
A 26-year-old crypto trader was kidnapped in France on Friday and released the following day after his abductors realized he lacked sufficient funds to meet their 50,000 euro ($57,000) ransom demand. The trader was forced into a stolen vehicle and beaten during the incident. He has 40,000 followers on TikTok. France's Organized and Specialized Crime Division is investigating the case, and the trader has been granted six days of work incapacity benefits. There has been a rise in crypto-related kidnappings in France this year, prompting security discussions among officials and crypto entrepreneurs. Notable incidents include attempts to kidnap family members of prominent figures in the crypto industry.
