Kraken To Launch First CFTC-Regulated Crypto Perpetual Futures In The US
Kraken is preparing to offer CFTC-regulated perpetual futures in the U.S. through Bitnomial, giving eligible clients domestic access to a product that has mostly traded on offshore venues. The contracts will keep the standard perp structure: no expiry, continuous pricing, and recurring funding payments. Kraken plans to integrate these derivatives with spot margin and CME-listed futures in a single Kraken Pro wallet, reducing operational friction for active traders. The initial asset list is broad, including BTC, ETH, SOL, XRP, ADA, LINK, DOGE, LTC, and AVAX. The launch could attract institutional and qualified U.S. traders who want leveraged crypto exposure within a regulated framework, potentially shifting some activity away from offshore exchanges. The main uncertainty is how broad eligibility will be and whether liquidity can build quickly enough to compete with existing global perp markets.
