Layer 1 Flare and Red Date Technology Set to Trial Stablecoin Buying for Chinese Nationals in Hong Kong
Flare and Red Date Technology are conducting two trials enabling mainland Chinese residents to purchase stablecoins issued by IDA in Hong Kong. The first trial allows anonymous registration on a regulated stablecoin app, while the second facilitates the purchase of tokenized financial products using the stablecoin. This initiative coincides with Hong Kong's impending stablecoin regulations, providing a legal avenue for mainland residents to hold public chain wallets and transact with stablecoins like HKDA. China maintains a strict stance on cryptocurrencies but invests heavily in blockchain technology, focusing on B2B applications. The trials will utilize the China Real-Name Decentralized Identifier System (RealDID) for anonymous registration, complying with Chinese law without requiring personal identification documents. Major stablecoins like Tether and Circle's U.S. dollar stablecoins are not expected to be available.
