Litecoin X account briefly hacked to promote a fake token

Summary

Litecoin's X account was hacked on January 11, promoting a fraudulent Litecoin token on the Solana network. The hacker posted a misleading message and a contract address linked to the scam. The Litecoin team regained control of the account, attributing the breach to a compromised delegated account. Recent months have seen a rise in X account hacks, with incidents involving EigenLayer, Wiz Khalifa, and the Cardano Foundation, all promoting fake tokens or phishing schemes. EigenLayer's account was hacked on October 18 for a fake airdrop, while Khalifa's account was compromised on November 3 to advertise a bogus memecoin. The Cardano Foundation's account was breached on December 8, falsely claiming support cessation for ADA due to an SEC lawsuit, generating $500,000 in trading volume before the scam was revealed. Yat Siu's account was also hacked on December 26 to promote a fake memecoin unrelated to Animoca Brands.
