MakerDAO community decides to continue Sky rebrand amid centralization concerns in vote
Sky has retained its brand identity following a community vote, with 79.3% supporting the Sky name over a reversion to MakerDAO. The decision marks a transition from MKR to SKY, establishing Sky as the identity for both the frontend app and backend protocol. Concerns arose regarding centralized voting influence, as only about 20 participants voted, with four entities controlling 80% of the vote share. This concentration raises issues of governance fairness within DAOs. Looking ahead, Sky plans to expand USDS adoption through Solana and Ethereum Layer 2 solutions, migrate MKR to SKY, and launch Spark, its first major project under the new brand. A proposal is also in development to make SKY a deflationary token and define tokenomics for Spark.
