Metaplanet reaches 5,555 Bitcoin milestone with latest 555 BTC buy
Metaplanet has acquired an additional 555 Bitcoin, increasing its total holdings to 5,555 BTC, valued at over $536 million. The Tokyo-listed firm spent $53.4 million on this purchase at an average price of $96,134 per Bitcoin. Total investments in Bitcoin amount to $481.5 million, with an average purchase price of $86,672 per BTC. To support ongoing acquisitions, Metaplanet issued $25 million in zero-coupon bonds and has raised over 35 billion yen ($244 million) since early 2024. The company's BTC Yield has significantly increased, reaching 309.8% in Q4 2024 and 95.6% in Q1 2025. Metaplanet plans to launch a US subsidiary, Metaplanet Treasury Corp., aiming to raise up to $250 million for its Bitcoin strategy. It is currently Asia's largest public corporate holder of Bitcoin and ranks 11th globally. Recent acquisitions include 696 BTC for $67 million and 330 BTC for $28.2 million. Shares surged 11% on the Tokyo exchange following these announcements.
