New stablecoin Open USD goes live as Coinbase, Mastercard, Stripe and Visa commit $1 billion to liquidity
Open Standard has launched its OUSD stablecoin on Ethereum, Solana, Base and Tempo. Backed by Coinbase, Mastercard, Shopify, Stripe and Visa, the issuer says the partners have committed more than $1 billion to build liquidity. Its model rewards partners for growing token supply and transaction activity, and plans to distribute much of the company’s equity to contributors over the next four to five years. OUSD targets payments, card settlement, cross-border transfers, trading and lending, competing in a market dominated by USDT and USDC. Open Standard says more than 200 companies are in its integration network and that it plans to issue tokens in other currencies if demand emerges. The launch’s ultimate scale and partner reward details remain uncertain.
