New US Bill Aims To Bring Order To Crypto Chaos With Unified Regulations
Congressman John Rose introduced the “BRIDGE Digital Assets Act” to reform the regulatory framework for crypto assets in the U.S. The act proposes a Joint Advisory Committee with members from the SEC and CFTC to harmonize conflicting regulations on digital assets. The committee will include at least 20 private sector participants, such as digital asset issuers and researchers, to provide insights and recommendations on regulation. The act aims to address confusion stemming from differing interpretations of digital assets by the SEC and CFTC, promoting cooperation and clarity. It sets a timeline for implementation, requiring the agencies to adopt a joint charter within 90 days, appoint committee members within 120 days, and hold the first meeting within 180 days of enactment. The BRIDGE Act seeks to enhance consumer protection, reduce transaction costs, and foster innovation in the evolving digital asset landscape, potentially benefiting the U.S. economy and its global positioning.
