Nvidia (NVDA), Tesla (TSLA) and Apple (APPL) are going onchain. Here’s how OKX and ICE’s new market will work
OKX and Intercontinental Exchange’s joint venture, OKXICE, filed plans for a blockchain-based market offering more than 60 U.S. stocks as tokens, including Nvidia, Tesla and Apple. The filing does not guarantee listings: companies can object during a 30-day window, and Cerebras has already done so. Tokens would be backed one-for-one by shares held by a broker-dealer and include associated economic and shareholder rights. Trading would use USDC, USDT or USDG in liquidity pools on OKX’s XLayer blockchain, with Uniswap technology, and operate 24/7. Users must pass identity and anti-money-laundering checks. Analysts see limited near-term institutional demand and cite regulatory uncertainty; the market’s key test will be attracting enough liquidity to keep token prices aligned with listed shares, especially outside market hours.
