OpenWorld Begins Nasdaq Trading As VerifyMe Deal Creates Public Tokenization Company
OpenWorld completed its business combination with VerifyMe and began trading on Nasdaq as OPNW on October 1. The company, led by digital-assets executive Matthew Shaw, is positioning institutional-grade real-world asset tokenization as a core strategy rather than focusing on a single token or consumer app. Its goal is to build the compliance, custody, transfer, and market infrastructure needed to digitize assets such as securities, private credit, property interests, and other RWAs. The Nasdaq listing gives investors a public-equity way to gain exposure to tokenization. OpenWorld also plans to seek a listing on Figure OPEN by November 2026, but that is not yet completed. The move comes as regulators work on clearer rules for tokenized assets and digital-asset custody, while markets increasingly adopt always-on trading features. The sector remains early and competitive, and OpenWorld’s challenge is to prove blockchain settlement can create real operational value and attract issuers, investors, and revenue.
