Polygon NFTs overtake Ethereum collectibles in 7-day sales

Summary

Polygon-based NFTs surged 20% in sales, reaching $22.3 million in the past week, surpassing Ethereum's $19.2 million and capturing 24% of the total NFT sales volume of $92.9 million. Over 39,000 buyers participated, marking an 81% increase from the previous week. The surge was primarily driven by the Courtyard NFT collection, which generated $20.7 million in sales. Courtyard serves as a marketplace for tokenized real-world assets (RWAs), including graded physical cards like Pokémon and sports cards. These NFTs are backed by physical assets stored in a secure vault, allowing users to redeem the physical items by burning the corresponding NFTs. Tokenized assets have gained traction, with a total value of $21.2 billion and over 97,000 asset holders reported in early 2025.
