Privacy push as StarkWare and Sui move toward compliance-ready confidential transfers
StarkWare and Sui introduced new privacy features that hide transaction data while preserving some audit and compliance access. StarkWare launched STRK20 on Starknet, a privacy framework for ERC-20 tokens that shields balances and transfers but can support disclosure under lawful request through viewing keys and screening at pool entry. StarkWare emphasized that “compliance-ready” means conditional privacy, not automatic legal approval. Sui also began a public beta for confidential transfers, which conceals transfer amounts while allowing authorized disclosure for auditing or regulatory needs. These launches reflect a wider shift in crypto privacy away from full anonymity and toward institutional-friendly systems built with auditability, disclosure, and oversight mechanisms. Recent developments involving Zama and scrutiny of Zcash show growing pressure on privacy projects to balance encryption with compliance and reliability.
