Ripple gains preliminary MiCA license ahead of July 1 EU deadline
Luxembourg’s financial regulator granted Ripple preliminary approval for a MiCA crypto asset service provider license. Once finalized, the license would let Ripple offer regulated crypto services to banks, fintechs, and other businesses across all 30 EEA countries through a single passport. The approval builds on Ripple’s existing EMI license in Luxembourg, which already supports regulated cross-border payments and electronic money services in the EEA. Ripple said the combined licenses would create a full MiCA-compliant crypto asset and stablecoin payments infrastructure via one integration and expand its broader crypto activities in Europe. The move comes as firms rush to secure MiCA authorization ahead of the EU’s July 1 transitional deadline, with Europe becoming a major regulatory battleground for crypto. Ripple says it now holds more than 75 regulatory licenses globally.
