Ripple Wins Final OCC Approval for Trust Bank Behind $2.6B RLUSD Stablecoin
Ripple received final OCC approval to establish Ripple National Trust Bank, completing a process that began with conditional approval in December 2025. The bank will manage RLUSD reserves, serve as collateral trustee for holders and offer enterprise digital-asset custody. RLUSD will remain issued by Ripple’s New York-regulated Standard Custody & Trust Company, bringing the stablecoin under state and federal oversight. RLUSD’s market capitalization is about $2.6 billion. The charter approvals face opposition from Sen. Elizabeth Warren and community bankers, who argue crypto firms may gain banking access without equivalent safeguards. Ripple says it will work with regulators as the bank begins operations and the U.S. implements its stablecoin framework.
