Robinhood’s crypto volume increases 61% in August, still down 38% YoY

Summary

Robinhood’s crypto trading volume rose 61% month over month to $17.5 billion in August, but was still 38% lower than a year earlier. Bitstamp contributed $10.1 billion of that total, up 53% from July but down 30% year over year. The Robinhood app generated $7.4 billion, rising 72% month over month yet falling 46% from August 2025. Bitstamp remains the larger source of crypto volume since its June 2025 acquisition, also accounting for most of Robinhood’s second-quarter crypto volume. Despite the August rebound, crypto transaction revenue fell 38% year over year to $100 million in Q2, even as growth in options, equities, and event contracts lifted overall quarterly revenue and earnings to record levels.
