Sam Altman's World Teams With Zoom, Tinder to Better Verify Humans in the AI Age
World (formerly Worldcoin) has introduced a major upgrade to its World ID system, shifting to an account-based architecture for "proof of human" verification. The new standalone World ID app enables users to manage and use identity verification more broadly online, moving beyond the company’s earlier wallet-based approach. World’s iris-scanning Orb device remains central, but additional verification methods are now supported. Recent integrations include partnerships with Tinder, Zoom, and Docusign. Match Group will expand World ID use to Tinder’s U.S. users. Zoom will leverage World’s deepfake detection to enhance video call authenticity, and Docusign will use World ID to verify digital signatures. A newly launched Concert Kit allows artists to offer event tickets only to verified humans, aiming to prevent ticket scalping by bots. World reports 18 million verified users across 160 countries. The upgrades come amid rising concerns about AI bots and the need for reliable human authentication online. Industry leaders cite verified human identity as a top priority for social media and financial systems in response to recent advances in AI technology.
