SEC Opens Franklin Templeton SOL And XRP ETF Proposals To Comments
The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has opened public comments for two proposed cryptocurrency exchange-traded funds (ETFs) from Franklin Templeton, specifically the Franklin XRP ETF and Franklin Solana ETF, intended for listing on the Chicago Board Options BZX Exchange. The SEC is initiating proceedings to consider these proposals, which were previously delayed. The decision deadline has been extended by 35 days to July following publication in the federal register. The SEC has approved spot investment vehicles for Bitcoin and Ether but has not yet approved ETFs for XRP or Solana. Other asset managers, including Bitwise, ProShares, and 21Shares, have also filed for similar listings. The SEC's regulatory approach to digital assets has shifted under Chair Paul Atkins, who has reduced enforcement actions against cryptocurrency companies. The future of ETF approvals for XRP and Solana remains uncertain.
